Can one be issued a cheque book by a bank even if the individual doesn't have a account with the bank?

Best Answer:

Jay Câ?¢: Actually yes.

Many banks will issue checkbooks for credit accounts like credit cards or lines of credit as well as checking accounts. It is also possible to be issued a checkbook if you are a trustee or a signer on a business account. You may not have an account at that bank, but if you are a signer on a business account, it would still issue you checks. Also note that some major credit companies will issue a prospective clients a preapproval for a credit account along with sex. Those checks are not valid until an account has been opened, but it can encourage someone on to open a credit account if they have immediate access to those funds. * lastly, you can print out checks on a computer or through an independent check ordering company for any account putting anyone's name on them. It would be fraudulent, but you could still have them.

Well to all the nay sayers out there I asked this question for clarity because I have personally experienced this with a person I was conducting business with the said individual wrote pd cheques to me from a reputed financial establishment and the said Individual had no account there when I verified it. Also I do know what a cheque is for. Gosh asking the internet for questions is literally like asking a bully that will he beat you up for no reason and he will not think twice. Relax people everyone asks dumb pointless questions it's upto a person to sort out the others query intending to help the other not gauge the intelligence of the person. Sad to see yahoo allows people to be ridiculed for asking questions. Yahoo should change the name from Yahoo Answers to Yahoo Ridicule.
Clive:
Certainly not. A cheque is an instruction to your bank to pay the person named on the cheque. That person pays it in to their bank, it gets sent back to your bank, and they take the money out of your account and send it to the other person's bank. So what use is it if you don't have an account to take the money from?
Judy:
no
delailah:
Nope silly
tro:
how ridiculous, there is no basis to issue a check book without an account
Ann:
NO
Eva:
No. You have to have an account and money to write checks.
Tavy:
No of course not. It would be useless if you don't have a bank account with them. Do you know what a cheque book is for ?
anonimitie:
No.
