Okay, so about a month ago I decided I wanted to upgrade from my crappy $200 Android to an iPhpne 7 Plus and at the time it was on sale for $200 off and I had more than enough money to buy it but my dad is making me wait 2 months to buy it and won t give any reason other than "I want you to make sure you wanna spend your money on that" but even as he said it he knew he was talking nonsense. Nobody needs 2 months to make sure they want a new phone and he knew that. Its been a month and I m getting impatient. Is this normal?

Luka: if you have your own money to buy it, why you just go and buy it? Unless your father controls you money.

If you have your own money, I guess you have a job. If this is correct, and you do not want your parents to control your money, tell your dad that you want to open a checking account in a bank and keep your money there. Students accounts are usually free. Tell him that you want to start building your credit score for your future and you want to tech yourself to manage your money- parents like this kind of stuff

believe me your dad is awesome…
what you say is crappy today and awesome today shall be viewed in reverse as you really become aware of the value of money…

technically speaking you cannot legally own anything until you are 18… the money belongs to him…

Is it a contract phone? Or are you talking about purchasing an unlocked iPhone for $700 so your parents won't have to commit to a 2 year contract? My guess is that the phone on sale requires your parents to sign a new contract. They will be stuck paying for that phone in higher monthly charges for two years. Maybe your parents fear getting laid off and they want to wait two months to make sure that they still have a job. That makes perfect sense.

This is a pure want and not a need. He's trying to teach you to be careful about impulse buying. Smart man.

More importantly, why would you downgrade from an Android device to an Apple device?

?:
I can see why. I dont blame him at all.

Talk to your father about it. I don't really understand his logic in its entirety.

I would let you buy it but refuse to replace it when you break/lose it. You might also burn up more data…for which I assume he pays the bill.

Do it but hide it
