How do you feel about family members asking for money or a loan?

I asked my grandparents for a small loanI am not working that much right now and I am currently looking for a second job. I work between 23-30 hours a week.

I was making about 1,700 a month after taxes, my overhead is LOW. I only have bills that total about 800 per month. No car, no house, cheap rent.

I just happen to be awful with money.

My situation is NOBODIES fault excect my own..

My family told me to SAVE money and I would ignore the suggestion

My family was right.. SAVE MONEY because you never know what will happen.. I could homeless if I lost my job completely.

My grandmother said she would help but if it was for a good reason, Buying a new car, houseBut didn't want to give me money just because I was broke..

I was thinking about it and not many people can just call family say they are broke and get money

Lots of people live off LESS than what I make and have kids.. IDK how they do that.
I was giving a small loan of 350 and I will repay it with my Tax Refund.

We never, never did that in our family (borrowed from each other). I know some families do, but I think it's better not to do it. In my opinion, it sets kind of a bad precedent. You get into the mindset that someone will rescue you. I believe it's better to be 100% independent, unless it's a very serious situation.

In forty some years of being an employee, I've never one time borrowed money from any member of my family, and I've been in some bad situations.
I really believe that you can do it yourself, but you have to plan ahead.

If you're always a saver, you will be ready when the bad times come around.
I lost my job in my 40's and didn't get another full time job for almost three years. I had to live on my own savings at one point, and it was scary. But I did it.
I think anybody could do it, I don't think I'm something special.

Loaning or borrowing money to or from a family member is always a Bad idea.

I swore to never loan money to family members or do buisness with any of them. It just gets too complicated and I had cases they didn't pay me back since we're family. So nope. Anyone who is healthy enough to work should work and save their money for when they need it. That's what I did. I didn't buy things recklessly although I wanted something badly. At age 18 (which is the legal age to work in my country) I started to work my *** everyday and now keep two jobs (age 19) to pay off bills and university. And until now I didn't need any family member to help me through.

So, you clearly have an issue with money, it happens. Personally, I think your grandmother was right in what she said and shouldn't have given you the loan. The reason…what has changed that will allow you to live within your means AND pay back this loan?

My policy is to not support bad choices. When someone is living above their means it isn't my problem. I will help people who are doing the right things like I will help a girl who marries, buys a house then gets pregnant, but not one who doesn't get married, lives with parents and gets pregnant it would just make her want to have more babies she can't support.
