How much money does the average 17 year old have in his/her bank account?

I am 17 years old, self-employed and have around $10,000 in my bank account. I make anywhere from $1,200-$4,000 per month (depending on how hard I work). I am buying a Nissan 370z in a couple months which will set me back a little bit, but I don't really mind considering that has been my dream car for a long

I am buying a Nissan 370z in a couple months which will set me back a little bit, but I don't really mind considering that has been my dream car for a long time. I just want to always be ahead of my age group in terms of financial status, so I am curious how much the average 17 year old has in their bank account. I plan on having around $80,000 in my bank account by the time I turn 19, which I genuinely feel like I can do. Thank you!

CJ: 50% of ALL people in the US don't even have $1,000 to handle an emergency so I'd say you're ahead of the game.

Of course you have lots of money. You do not have a car. so we cannot compare owners to non-owners. Wait a year, and then compare.

That's more than average. You are filing and paying taxes on all that income like you're legally required to, aren't you? If not you'll be in serious trouble with the IRS when you get caught.
A Hunch:
Most 17 year olds have no money.

Do you pay taxes on your money? It's really easy to have a lot of money when you are a tax cheat.
The least expensive 370Z are 2009 and cost about $16000. When you have $18000 you will be able to purchase one. At this time, you would not be able to get a loan to purchase the car. Be mindful that you might be paying upwards of $350 a month in insurance.
= I think that's a total waste of money… but if you would rather be car poor living with mom and dad, go for it.

That's great that you will have $80000. Are you just going to keep it in a savings account?
