I took in a check written on Wells Fargo for $9,400. The girl said they didn't have the money to cash that but would give me a bank check, which guarantees the funds. Huh?? I wanted cash and the check was written on Wells Fargo. Are you telling me that a bank didn't have $9,400 in cash??? Or did they
I took in a check written on Wells Fargo for $9,400. The girl said they didn't have the money to cash that but would give me a bank check, which guarantees the funds. Huh?? I wanted cash and the check was written on Wells Fargo. Are you telling me that a bank didn't have $9,400 in cash??? Or did they just give me the runaround because I don't have a Wells Fargo account?? I'd be glad to pay the $10 to cash the check, written on Wells Fargo AT WELLS FARGO!!! Banks today suck!
Allan: YOUR ACLS ANSWER WAS PRETTY RIGHT ON. IT WAS USED FOR A FAST VENTRICULAR DYSRYTHMIAS. AND IF NO DEFIBRILLATOR IS AROUND YOU CAN TRY IT. BUT DON'T JUST KEEP ON BEATING SOMEONES CHEST, START CPR AND GET SOMEONE THERE. IF THE PERSON IS STILL CONSCIOUS THEN YOU CAN TRY THE VAGAL RESPONSE METHOD, MAKE THEM COUGH REAL HARD, THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME IN A CRUNCH WHILE WAITING ON THE CRASH CART TO GET THERE. AND I HAVE HAD SUCCESS WITH THE " THE CARDIAC THUMB". BUT NEVER CHOOSE IT OVER A DEFIBRILLATOR. AND IT IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR CPR, COMPRESSIONS TO KEEP BLOOD CIRCULATION WHILE TRYING TO RESTORE RHYTHM.
Wells Fargo takes care of their customers – and you aren't one. Banks don't cash large check – even their own. Maybe the check is a counterfeit, maybe it's bogus, maybe you aren't who you say you are. And maybe though they do have 10k, they're not going to give you all their cash, and not have any left for other customers.
Stranger walks into a bank with (supposedly) one of their checks written for a large amount, and won't cash it?? Doesn't surprise me in the least. This has scam written all over it.
I've never cashed a large check, I've always deposited them @ my bank. My own bank told me, that it would be 3 – 5 business days for them to clear. Ok by me. I'm in no rush.
Most banks will cash a check issued by their company as long as you pay a $6 fee. They can know immediately if the check is "good".
WF is running a business and can offer you the bank check. It would be an advantage over the 401k check. You could theoretically go to another WF branch and cash that bank check immediately. More effort but it gets you the money. WF has other rules which are not industry-standard. They won't let you deposit a 3rd party check which it is signed over to you. Even if the people who signed over the check to you are present and have ID.
I would have just taken as much cash as they could give me, get the bank check, and then come back the next day and get the rest. You would think with that kind of money you'd be happier…
Customer service at big banks these days is mediocre in a lot of cases. You didn't have to take it so dramatically.
