Who is losing money?

If my mom uses my gift card to get something and she gives me that money back is she losing her money?

Best Answer:

Shreya: Your gift card paid for the item, mom received the item and repaid you. You got your amount back & mom got to keep the item.

Shreya:
No. Your mom is paying back the money she borrowed from you when she used your gift card to get something. She's not losing money, rather she's spending her own money to get something. You're receiving back the money she borrowed from you when she used your gift card. You didn't loose or gain any money, as your money was replaced by your mother.
Judith:
No one is "losing" money. She bought something so she received value for her money. She "borrowed" money from you which she paid back.

When you buy something do you think you've "lost" money? What's the difference? Now if she lost the gift card before using it then she's lost money – your money.
