Will bank cash a money order sent to me with the "Pay to order of" field blank? They forgot to write my name.?

Isn't it illegal to write my name on that field? It's only 10 dollars so I'd rather just throw it away instead of possibly getting into trouble.

Best Answer:

1) you call the sender, asking him for their permission to fill the blank with your name… 2) once he authorizes, you ask him sending you an email to confirm… this is for your own record… it's just in case there's an issue, you have a proof to protect yourself…

My credit union won't. Your name must be filled in before you present it for cashing. So do that yourself.
Eva:
Duh…write you name in the space.

Just write your name in the blank field, whoever sent it to you obviously left it blank for you to select the best way of using it.
Vilhjalmur:
No. Nor will the postal service.
Jamey:
