Long story short, I needed money, and someone online offered to help me out. We were talking for a while and the person said they d need my routing number, account number, card holder name, username, password, and security question That all sounds suspect, but I mentioned that I had no money on my card which is true, and it s a debit card, not credit. Is this the legit procedure to getting money wired to you? He said he needs that info to forward it to his account manager on monday. It s risky, but I literally have nothing to lose on that account as of now.

Ricki: There are lots of ways to transfer money from account to account and none of them require your password or answers to secret questions. It's a scam. Just don't bother with someone obviously trying to scam you.

Other answer:

Ricki:
total scam
Ambistoma:
Scam, scam, scam. If I want to send you money, all I need are your name (perhaps full name, to distinguish you from others of your name) and your bank's name. I send money to the bank and say, "Please deposit this into my friend's account."
Eva:
Scam, scam, scam. They can use the information to open all sorts of accounts in your name as well as using it for fraudulent transactions.

They do NOT need all that information to wire money to you. Never give "anyone" your bank or card login name or password or security questions. For example I only gave my sister my routing and account number (of course she knows my name) and she used my checking account to pay a portion of her credit card bill and my bank did not even notify me even though she has a different last (married) name. But I had given her that info to share expenses for a condo we rented to attend her daughter's wedding.
